Comedy Grove presents Brixham Comedy Grove, featuring Cerys Nelmes

In partnership with Comedy Grove, who successfully promote Comedy Clubs across the West Country, Brixham Theatre stages another night of quick fire wit and humour, directed by resident compere, Cerys Nelmes, kicking off Brixham's Winter Fetival weekend.

“Alright my loves, how's it going?”

West Country Stand Up Comedian Cerys Nelmes, born and bred in the centre of the Cotswolds, is fast becoming one of the best female MCs in the country and is now established as the Brixham Comedy Grove resident host.

*Appeared in the last series of Trollied. Cerys can also be seen popping up on Casualty, Stella, The Coroner, Galavant and The Rack Pack*

Cerys has had a very colourful and eventful life which she loves talking about to make people laugh. She performs her comedy in a story telling style with a West Country charm that is easy to warm to.

Cerys has worked very hard to forge a strong career in the comedy industry. She is a leading mc on the comedy circuit, working for major UK clubs and UK charity events. Cerys has a fantastic stage presence and her audience interaction is flawless. The infamous 'Teenager' appears a lot in her work due to audience demand!

Cerys is making waves in the tv industry as one of the best female TV warm up artists, most recently working alongside George Lamb on Football Tonight for BT Sport.

Andrew Watts has a distinctive style and very original material. His posh boy humour is intelligent without distancing himself from the audience. Lawyer turned comedian, Andrew is extremely likeable and invariably wins a crowd over as he canters, like an apologetic tsunami, through challenging subjects.

Previously a solicitor in London, he is now a full-time comedian and has written and performed four full-length Edinburgh shows, I Wish I Could Be Like Andrew Watts, Born To Be Mild, Feminism for Chaps and. most recently, How To Build A Chap.  All of them received five- or four-star reviews.

Winner – Reading Comedy Festival New Act of The Year

Runner-Up to TV’s Jack Whitehall – Amused Moose Laugh-Off

Finalist – So You Think You’re Funny, Laughing Horse New Act of the Year + English Comedian of the Year Competition

“His distinctive style stands out – a winning mixture of pomposity, insecurity and emotional incompetence, while the fury-inducing importance he places on the trivial makes for a winning comic stance.” - Chortle.co.uk

“One of my favourite up-and-coming comedians, who looks and acts like he’s in middle management and whose distaste for everything laddish and fondness for cricket analogies cloaks some darker writing… There’s intelligent wit, honesty and more interesting and provocative thoughts in his show than many comics manage in a decade.” - The Scotsman

“Lovers of stand-up laced with a cerebral cutting-edge should, without further prevarication, flock to his show.” – Three Weeks ****

Suzy Bennett

A former winner of the prestigious Funny Women Award, Suzy is a dynamo of a comic, with a uniquely warm and chatty stage presence.

Leaving an unhealthy relationship takes some gumption, says Suzy Bennett, but not as much as attempting to reconnect with the friends she lost touch with during it. Or dancing in Kylie’s gold hot pants.

Mistakes and how to mend them is the main theme of her set and Suzy Bennett gives a frank account of her past woes, including failed diets, a painful break-up, with subsequent dating nightmares, and the death of a close friend. She has been likened to Dawn French in her ability to draw you in with a few well-placed quips and a lot of awkward expressions, feeding off the ‘we’ve all been there’ sympathy from the crowd.

The fantastic Suzy Bennett hosting the 2011 Funny Women Awards at Leicester Square Theatre.
