Two's Company present John Godber's 'Teechers'

Brixham Theatre Saves the Play! See the show the UAE banned!

Teignmouth based theatre company, Two’s Company, were due to tour their version of John Godber’s ‘Teechers’ to Dubai and Abu Dhabi this week, following on from their successful sharing of ‘Bouncers’ last year.

Instead they received some very disappointing news. Their tour to the Middle East has been cancelled, due to the tightening up of censorship legislation in the UAE. With only two weeks before being due to fly, they found themselves all dressed up with nowhere to go!

So Brixham is opening up its theatre to ‘Teechers’ for one night only on 19th November, at 7.30 pm,, giving you the chance to come and see what the UAE is missing!

‘Teechers’ is a bitingly witty comedy from John Godber, the writer of Bouncers, Perfect Pitch and The Debt Collectors.

We all have great and not-so-great memories of our school days, and most of us have that one special inspirational teacher that we remember fondly and with gratitude. Hobby, Salty and Gail tell their story of one such teacher with energy, imagination, hilarity and poignancy.

Three cast members effortlessly transform into a vast array of characters including teachers, dinner ladies, students, an obstructive caretaker and, of course, the school bully, using an impressive pace and enthusiasm, digging deep into their repertoire of regional accents.

Putting the education system under a microscope, ‘Teechers’ is an inventive, fast moving modern classic that examines themes and issues still relevant today.

It will leave you laughing one moment and thoughtful the next.

Please note that this show does contain some swearing and is suitable for over 12 years only.
