Eyeview - Electric Sound Palace at Paignton Picture House

Did you know Paignton Picture House opened in 1914 and is believed to be the oldest surviving purpose-built cinema in Europe? Once a cinema and film library, in its early days it featured a 21-piece orchestra, with each member paid a guinea to perform. ⠀

Sound artist Chris Timpson and collaborators are currently working inside Paignton Picture House to conjure up the cinema’s original 21-piece orchestra in an installation combining historical references with immersive sound technology. ⠀

Come discover the Electric Sound Palace as part of Eyeview (extra)ordinary.
