Red Dragonfly Productions & Grist to the Mill present ‘DiaoChan’

Red Dragonfly Productions & Grist to the Mill present a Chinese Classic, ‘DiaoChan’,
adapted by Ross Ericson

This play is based on the ancient Chinese legend of DiaoChan, from one of the greatest pieces of Chinese literature: The Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

The Empire is in turmoil. The tyrant, DongZhou, has made an eight year old boy Emperor and is ruling as Chancellor, executing all who oppose him and putting their families to the sword,

Minister WangYun fears for his daughter and his own life, confiding his worries to a singing girl, DiaoChan, a courtesan of his household and friend to the daughter.

But she is more concerned about the limited expectations of her life, and is looking for a way to make a more secure future, finding it in the lusting for her shown by the tyrant.

Can she come up with a plan that will save them all?

DiaoChan promises a night of steamy conspiracy and entertaining twists.

Red Dragonfly’s production DiaoChan has been adapted for a British audience and is performed in English by a cast of British East-Asian actors, in colourful traditional costumes.
