Brixham Rotary club present the Fourth Annual charity concert 'Songs of the Sea'

Songs of the Sea are set to get feet tapping when the fourth bumper, charity concert organised by the Rotary Club of Brixham takes place on Saturday, 23rd April at 7.30pm at the Brixham Theatre.

The Rotary Club of Brixham has teamed up with two of the town’s bands and a local sea shanty group to put on a concert which aims to involve the whole community and raise funds for Brixham College.

Featuring Songs of the Sea, the programme remembers Brixham’s Great Storm over 150 years ago, when, on the 10th January, 1866, over 100 lives were lost and over 60 ships, many from the port’s fishing fleet were destroyed. Following this catastrophe, the town acquired its first lifeboat.

Music makers, Brixham Town Band and Brixham College Big Band, are teaming up to bring their musical magic to the Brixham Theatre. They will be joined by sea shanty crew, “Missin’ Tackle”.
